Scoopies: 100% biodegradable poop scooping bags
I thought these biodegradable bags would be great, but for all the excess plastic that they provide, it probably negates the eco-friendliness of this product. These Scoopies remind me of my old large animal days - you guessed it - that huge cow plastic rectal sleeve. The nice thing about these Scoopies is that you feel like you're donning a huge plastic glove before you pick up poop... leaving you, your palm, your wrist (and almost your elbow) "well protected." While most people are squeamish, we pet lovers don't fear poop quite that much, and probably don't need this huge of a piece of plastic. Also, ALL plastic bags are biodegradable - it might just take 100 years to biodegrade, which the company doesn't tell us.
A small helpful hint - I actually don't tie a knot in the plastic bag after I scoop - it's the naturalist in me, but I believe that flies, maggots, and all those biodegrading insects help break it down faster if they can actually get in the bag. Of course, that means you still need to scoop the poop and throw it in the trash to begin with. Good owner. Way to make this vet proud.
